The Miracle Of Spring: A Message From The President & CEO

Shalom Chaverim,

The weather may not be so indicative of springtime coming, but there are definite signs of spring in Kansas City. As daffodils begin to bloom and the grass gets greener each day, we can begin to see and feel the excitement of new life springing up all around us. It is a time of hope and renewal.

Right in sync with the emergence of spring is Passover, which begins March 30. This festival of freedom provides the perfect bridge of past and present as we re-tell the story of the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt. At the same time, we welcome the stranger. A holiday that brings people together and educates our youngsters, it has always been a favorite of mine. It truly holds community in the highest regard.

In the midst of this is Jewish Federation’s Campaign Kick Off, which officially begins April 1. Last year, we condensed our campaign cycle and reaped incredible results, netting our largest Community Campaign in the history of our organization. Again, as spring arrives, we will be kicking off our 2018 Campaign, hoping again to surpass our goal of $5.45 million. We also look forward to celebrating Jewish Federation’s 85th anniversary – all in the name of supporting more than 80 programs and services that benefit Jewish people in Kansas City, Israel and around the world.

Over the next few weeks, many of you will hear from Jewish Federation, asking for your help. The services and benefits we provide remain critical to our Jewish community. Once again, I hope you will join me in 2018 to support Jewish Federation’s mission of sustaining and enhancing Jewish life at home and around the world. Without each and every one of you, we could not make this happen. Each gift ensures that our most vulnerable live with dignity. Each gift re-affirms the future of Jewish Kansas City, providing myriad opportunities for all to enjoy and connect with everything our vibrant Jewish community has to offer.

Springtime is a miracle, as is our wonderful Jewish community. To those of you who support Jewish Federation with pride each year, I ask that you remember this on Passover: Together, we make miracles happen.

On behalf of the Jewish Federation Staff and Board of Directors, Chag Pesach Sameach, Happy Passover.

B'Shalom,
Helene
