To sustain and enhance Jewish Life at Home and Around the World.

Kansas City Jewish Life

Jewish Kansas City is as strong and vibrant as the city itself. Here you’ll find Jews of every belief and practice. These are a few things we’re proud of in Kansas City:
  • Approximately 18,000 Jews live in the Kansas City area—it’s a relatively small but strong, active and welcoming Jewish community.
  • We host the best kosher barbecue festival in the nation, sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society.
  • The Midwest Center for Holocaust Education was founded by Holocaust survivors Isak Federman and Jack Mandelbaum, and is located at the Jewish Community Campus
  • Our Jewish Federation is more than 80 years old
  • The City of Leawood has a partnership with the Gezer Region in Israel, one of Jewish Federation's partnership areas in our Israel & Overseas funding.
Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City has been at the heart of this community since 1933. We build community, raise funds and help strengthen our local partner agencies, institutions, and the programs that are lifelines for Jewish Kansas Citians of every background. In addition, we’re bringing that same impact to Israel and Jewish communities around the world (with 32% of our unrestricted funds granted to overseas programs).
