The Sasone program fulfills two specific needs.  It provides the opportunity for Jewish school-age children with disabilities to participate in Jewish educational experiences to which they would otherwise not have access.  It also creates a setting for social interactions with other Jewish children and adults, through which they develop a sense of a Jewish identity.

Providing access to Jewish education for children with disabilities for many years has had life changing effects for both the students with special needs as well as those who attend school with them.  They have the opportunity to learn that the Jewish community believes that Jewish education is important for all of God’s children.  They also develop skills such as patience and empathy.  Particularly with the younger students, they begin to see those with special needs as just another one of their peers.  Sasone will serve 175 children in 10 programs, early childhood through high school.
