Kosher Meals on Wheels provides the elderly and people with disabilities in Greater Kansas City with hot, nutritious meals five days per week – that’s nearly 10,500 meals delivered per year. Often, these meals represent the only cooked and wholesome food they consume in a given day. Great detail goes into the preparation of every FDA-standard meal and all of these meals are kosher certified.

Recipients are requested to pay a modest fee for meals. However, nearly 100 percent of clients are referred by Jewish Family Services or live in government housing and are below the poverty line.

The story of Beth:

Beth sits patiently at her dining room table, waiting for her Kosher Meals on Wheels volunteer to arrive. A visit from a volunteer means dinner, which Beth receives five days a week from the Kosher Meals on Wheels program, run by the Torah Learning Center. It also means some much needed socialization. "I look forward to them stopping in and chatting for a few minutes," the nonagenarian says. She depends on the meals to continue living independently. “I don't know what I'd do without Meals and Wheels. I have kept kosher since I was a little girl. It means so much to me and it would be so difficult.”
